Affordable housing is becoming an increasing challenge for many people in Cologne. Rising rents, a shortage of housing and the loss of affordable apartments are placing a growing burden on tenants.
That is why a broad alliance of Cologne-based initiatives, associations, trade unions and political parties is calling for a demonstration for affordable housing on Sunday, 27 September 2026.
The focus is on demands for more affordable, social and non-profit housing as well as measures to counter the increasing displacement of residents from Cologne’s housing market.
